Fall at the Arboretum

So after dropping Claire off at school this morning for her first field trip, the boys and I headed to the arboretum to enjoy the fall pumpkins and a morning out. Unfortunately, it is still very warm here, but it was overcast and bearable. Jude loved the pumpkins and even tried to bite into one. Avery took a bad spill right at the entrance, so that really changed his mood throughout the whole morning. It was nice to have the place to ourselves-- and the twins had no interest in visiting the brand new children's gardens... Sigh...

Murphy Maize Days

What an unexpected fun wknd event! My friend, Laura, told me about this little fall festival down the street from her-- what a great time we had. All 3 big kids got to bounce in those rubberband like harness things. They also played hamster and went up and down the track in a giant (hot) atom. Ash and Ave both got tattoos while C opted for the face paint. Even Baby J joined the fun and rode a pony with big sis. Scott and I enjoyed fried pickles and rooster balls. Yes, that's right. Rooster balls.

Asher received this terrific hat from Uncle Casey. He loves it so much he even sleeps in it. 

Here is another reason we got a new picnic table for outside. Carly has easier access to Jude's high chair. NOT!!!

Our beloved bubble blowers have turned into weed whackers. Ask Avery how many times he got dirt in his eye.

6th birthday experience-- ear piercing!!!

For quite some time, Claire has wanted to get her ears pierced. In lieu of a 6th birthday party, she had a 6th birthday expereince! We scheduled an appt at "La Lobe" where they freeze the ear lobes and then hand pierce them. Claire was a rock star-- didn't even flinch.

Of course, as my life goes, there was a random, crazy lady who entered the shop and demanded to know if piercing a little infant's ears was legal "because this is horrific" blah blah blah. (There was a 1 month old having her ears done right before Claire.) 

We were not deterred, and Claire now has 2 beautiful gold heart earrings.
