Meant to be...

I love it when I have "signs"... This one was particularly cool. We were out walking by the creek-- beautiful weather sunshine... and we saw these 3 turtles sunning themselves on the bank. The kids always name themselves when they see objects that come in 3s... so it was only natural when they saw 3 turtles to say, "Oh, Claire, Asher, and Avery."
And then, as if right on cue, a 4th turtle comes out of the water...

Top o' the Fridge

I have to chuckle... this is what the top of the fridge now looks like:
- separate treat jars for the pups (hypoallergenic and not hypoallergenic)
- antibiotics, creams, ointments
- tranquilizers, pain meds, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories
- beta (used to be on the counter but Avery kept trying to fish her out, literally)
- glucosomine chondrotin, fish oil (not related to the actual fish in the bowl)
- pill pockets
And this is just the current pharmacy for the dogs...

Carly Q...

Well, Carly came through her surgery well. She is resting nicely and sporting this new piece of hardware. My bionic dogs...

Carly's Turn

It's Carly's turn for surgery! She decided she wanted to be like Reese and tear her cranial cruciate ligament in her knee... *sigh* These pups of ours-- love them!!! She is having the procedure this morning, will have a slumber party at the vet tonight, and return home tomorrow afternoon.

Alphabet Obsession

As you may know, Asher just loves his alphabet! He plays with the little letters as if they were action figures, he lines them up, he sleeps with them-- he is obsessed. His Top 3 favorite alphabet books are Chicka-chicka-boom-boom, Alphabet Avalanche, and Alphabet Mystery/Alphabet Rescue.
One day, Asher decided to load all of his letters onto a fire truck, just like they do in Alphabet Rescue. No coaxing, no coaching, no suggesting. I took a picture of him with his firetruck alphabet and sent it to the beloved authors of the book...
... and they replied!!!

"Dear Kate --What an incredible, nearly professional quality, absolutely charming photo. And thanks for the complimentary commentary as well.Asher is obviously an incredible kid. The photo looks just like the illustration. Thanks again,Don Wood"

Girl's Best Friend

Claire and her buddy... Reese is such a good dog! So tolerant and loving...
Reese loves to rest his head on the tree well-- apparently, so does Claire. : )

9 Years and counting!

As of yesterday, the count stands at 9 years of happy matrimony, 8.5 years of domestic secuirty, many world travels, 3.5 sweet kiddos, 2 goofy pound puppies, and a future that holds many more adventures with my super husband, Scott Morrison. Who would've thought 1/19/03 would lead us to all of this? xoxo

Happy Epiphany!

Happy Epiphany! I should be taking down "Christmas Past", but I can't help but give a glimpse of what "Christmas Future" will be like for the Morrisons...

A Much Needed Transformation

One of our favorite places to spend time is our backyard. Unfortunately, years of wear and tear, 160 lbs of dog running on it, sprinkler issues, drainage problems, Texas clay, etc. really left us in sad shape. Scott worked with some hardscape designers and came up with an awesome plan-- we hired a company to do the manual labor of it (took about a week) which included excavating, filling, placing, and dealing with drainage and more sprinkler issues.

Alas, it is almost complete! It is definitely usable-- the kids LOVE racing their pushcarts and scooters sround the tree wells and lining up the cars/toys on the border. We kept the swing(s) and will move back in some of the equipment.

Laid sod this morning-- it has 30 days to grow and took root as per laws governing our water restrictions... c'mon, grass grow!!

Birds are slow to come back to the feeder, but our friendly yellow-bellied sap-sucker has made a daily appearance!

I'm going to try and see if this link works-- any of you tech people, feel free to comment.
